Our Story
I’m David Jouppi, owner and operator of Jouppi Outdoors RV Repair. My journey into this business has been one of both adventure and growth. Back in May of 2019, my wife, our youngest son, and I made a big life change: we sold our house to live on the road full-time as RVers. We spent 2019 planning every detail, aiming to leave our home state of Florida in March of 2020 to explore and embrace the freedom of RV life. It’s a choice I wouldn’t trade for anything; our journey has been filled with unforgettable adventures and experiences that have enriched our lives in countless ways.
From the start, I committed to understanding every aspect of RV systems to make sure we were well-prepared for the challenges of life on the road. My professional background has been a huge asset in this journey. I spent a decade as an ASE-certified automotive technician, which gave me a solid foundation in vehicle mechanics. After that, I worked 13 years in the battery industry, specializing in 12-volt DC electrical systems, primarily in marine applications. This experience became invaluable when we started living in our RV, where mechanical and electrical issues often go hand-in-hand. Since 2019, I’ve applied everything I know to keep our RV in top shape. But it didn’t stop there; as we met other RVers and traveled from place to place, I began helping others with their RV repairs too. Word of mouth spread quickly, and I found myself diagnosing and fixing everything from electrical issues to mechanical breakdowns for fellow RV enthusiasts we met along the way. Realizing that I could make a real difference in the RV community sparked something in me. I discovered a genuine passion for RV repair and troubleshooting. Throughout our travels, I also made a point to document many of the repairs and upgrades I performed on our own RV and those I did for others.
We began sharing these experiences on our YouTube channel, with the goal of helping other RVers learn more about their vehicles. It’s been rewarding to hear from viewers who used our videos to tackle repairs on their own RVs or simply feel more empowered in understanding their systems. Sharing what I’ve learned, from hands-on problem-solving to tips for common issues, has allowed me to connect with RVers from all over, even beyond the places we’ve traveled.
One of the things I’ve come to understand deeply as a full-time RVer is that RV ownership is about more than just knowing how to fix things. It’s a lifestyle with unique demands, routines, and even challenges that you don’t fully appreciate until you’re living it. From figuring out efficient ways to manage water and power to dealing with unexpected breakdowns far from the nearest repair shop, being on the road gives you a unique perspective. It’s taught me a lot about self-sufficiency, resilience, and the importance of community, which is strong among RVers who are always willing to lend a hand or share advice. Through this journey, I realized I wanted to turn my skills and passion into something more. I wanted to create a business that served other RVers in a way that acknowledged the unique needs and challenges of life on the road.
That’s how Jouppi Outdoors RV Repair came to be. My goal with Jouppi Outdoors is not only to provide top-notch repairs but to do so with an understanding of what RVers are looking for—timely, reliable help from someone who truly knows what it’s like to rely on an RV as a home. I’m genuinely excited to bring my passion and experience to each customer I serve. Whether it’s troubleshooting an electrical issue, helping to prevent common problems, or simply offering advice on how to make life on the road easier, I approach each job with the same commitment and care that I put into maintaining our own RV. I know that when an RV issue comes up, it’s more than just a vehicle needing repair—it’s someone’s home and their ticket to freedom.
For me, Jouppi Outdoors RV Repair is not just a business; it’s the culmination of my life’s journey so far and a way to give back to the RV community. I’m grateful for the experiences we’ve had, the places we’ve seen, and the people we’ve met along the way. I look forward to many more years of helping fellow RVers, sharing knowledge, and continuing to learn and grow on this path we’ve chosen!
